Cohesion, Team Announcement

Thanks for following and joining in on the excitement that is Downeast Racing. As you can see we are in process of launching the team this week. We will be spending some time with our shop, sponsors, and fellow teammates this week, but hope to have an event where we can meet a larger group of people soon - so be ready for that! Check out our roster Here.

Through concept and creation, Downeast Racing has been about cohesion. The team is made up of a group of cyclists who have spent a great deal of time together on training rides, racing with and against one another over the years, and who all have love for the sport. We have a variety of national caliber riders in different categories and disciplines. And, together, plan to combine those experiences into a group effort for a team's success.

The time available to develop and put together a team was sparse, but the results have been excellent. We will be touting a total roster of 12 riders, ages 21-63. It is a pleasure to be on a team of riders with whom I have raced and ridden alongside for most of my time on a bike. Many of these individuals were the guys I looked up to when I first started riding, and without one specific person on the team I may have never found cycling. I've seen many of these riders improve over the years, and am more than excited to ride in the same colors as them (although a couple might be seen with the flare of current/prior national championship colors for varied disciplines!).

Pairing up with Gorham Bike & Ski has made for a great partner in our endeavor thanks to Jamie, Dave, and Giant Bicycles. There are a boatload of other organizations and individuals who deserve a great deal of thanks - and we'll let you know about them all as we move along here. The classic, steadfast, and proven TCR Advanced equipped with SRAM Force 22 will lead Downeast Racing on many, many successful races. You might also notice that they match our kits (or vice versa)!

Team Bikes are on the Way!

We received word that our bikes will be here by the end of the month.  I couldn't be happier with the hook up - we will be riding Giant TCR Advanced/SRAM Force in a color scheme that matches our kits!  I have been a fan of Giant and SRAM for years, and I always choose this brand when purchasing my own bikes.

I would like to give a huge shout out to Jamie at Gorham Bike and Ski for working with Giant and providing these fantastic bikes for us!!

2014 Kits

Our kit designs are now complete, and I am really pumped with how they turned out!  We were fortunate to partner with so many fantastic sponsors on short notice, and their representation on our kits is step one in the relationship.

Look for the kits to be hitting the streets of New England in about 6 weeks, followed by 10 days at our team training camp in Ashville, NC, and then at our first team races - Tour of the Battenkill on April 5th and 6th, and the Chris Hinds Criterium on March 29th.

Watch for us at the races and group rides very soon!

Jeff
